If you like authentic Italian cooking you’re going to love this blog. We signed up for an all day tour in January for an Italian cooking lesson and lunch followed by a tour of a local castle in Marostica and then a progressive vineyard.
Our group of 8 people, accompanied by Devon the tour guide, traveled to the former mountain chalet in Piovene Rocchette that is now the restaurant, Trattoria All’Angelo.
The charming Chef Mauro and his lovely American, sommelier wife Bari were so engaging and energetic that you wished they had their own cooking show on T.V. This was a “hands on” experience and after we washed our hands and donned our personalized chef aprons and hats we began our lessons.
Chef Mauro was generous with numerous cooking tips and we were provided with the recipes to all the dishes we made. Soon we were all busy cutting, chopping, kneading, stirring and steaming various items as we enthusiastically prepared the dishes.
One of the highlights was making the fresh pasta and then pressing it through an antique pasta maker. Nothing like fresh made pasta. It’s the best.
All our efforst paid off as we enjoyed an outstanding, leisurely lunch with each course paired with a different wine.
We plan to return to their restuarnt real soon.

Ciao for now!
